WHAT SIZE PET URN SHOULD YOU BUY?

    • The Living Weight of your pet “generally” translates into the size urn you’ll need to buy for a standard cremation.
    • 1 pound of living weight = 1 cubic inches of ashes
    • If your pet is cremated using low flame cremation or aquamation there will be significantly more ash and bone fragment and you'll need to size up.
    • Our boxes are designed to hold a plastic bag of ashes not a velvet bag. If planning to use a velvet bag inside the urn you'll want to size up.
    • Group cremations yield more ashes than solo cremations
    • Your crematory will  generally insert ashes into the pet urn as a courtesy
    • Any personal items being cremated with your pet or items added to the box will  require sizing up to a larger size box
    • We highly suggest consulting with your crematory about the size of box you need prior to placing an order

            ENGRAVING

We use high quality laser engraving on our Cedar Urns. The urn will be engraved with the Layout you select. Engraving will include Pet's Name, Dates -or- Memorial Line.  If you choose a Memorial Line, the text may not exceed 30 Characters including spaces. The Layout shows exactly how the text will be represented on your urn including fonts. All dates will be engraved in text format such as 4-14-2024 or 4/2024, no exceptions. The Slide Urn is engraved on the Front. The Chest Urn is engraved on the Top. The engraving is etched into the wood and may have light/dark variations based on the colors in the wood we're engraving into.

            HARDWARE/LOCK

-The Traditional Chest features a shiny gold machined hasp & clasp and hinges. This box comes with a shiny gold heart padlock and 1 key.  The Slide Urn features a slide bottom and is secured with a screw.

            ABOUT OUR CEDAR URNS:

            Handcrafted in Texas!

Our cedar urns are constructed from Grade 1 Eastern Aromatic Cedar which is sourced in Texas and Arkansas. Each box is handmade, by a human. Many of the cedar boxes found in the market today are "Made in India or China" mass produced boxes. Our urns are solid wood and  preserved with a clear matte finish on the top and sides of the box. The bottom and interior is left natural and unfinished.  The cedar chest features a beautiful rounded edge and the slide urn showcases our unique chamfer edge.

Each Cedar & Co. box is one-of-a-kind just as each tree is unique. When you receive your box it’ll be bright red, because the cedar is fresh and new. Your box may be a combination of red and blonde cedar and it most likely will have freckles and knots. It also could have a fiery red/orange pattern. Cedar inherently is a grainy wood with a lot of personality. All of it is beautiful, and within a few months, it’ll change from bright red to a honey brown shade. The chest or slide could come with some extra cedar dust and may have some glue beading on the interior of the box as well as some rough patches or knots.  Knots do get a "visible line" (inside and outside) which will happen 100% of the time. This is not a defect and will not pose structural integrity issues with the box. It's an expectation of the wood. The Traditional Chest is designed to place ashes inside and be secured. It's not necessarily designed to be opened and closed daily.

            THINGS TO NOTE:

Our listing and example photos are designed to be a representation of many different types of wood you'll see on our boxes. We cannot take requests for specific looks or a pattern. The settings on your computer, phone and handheld device could alter the color of the boxes. The box you receive will be bright red and over time will change color to a mellow brown shade.

The richness of the wood and fragrant interior cedar smell will be appreciated for a lifetime.

Your cedar box should not be stored in direct sunlight and the box should be kept latched when not in use. Heat, humidity and extreme cold are not good for the boxes and can contribute to the warping of the wood.
